Riverside Heights encompasses two Crimewatch districts, 96 and 104.

Who We Are

For several decades, Riverside Heights Civic Association has been a voice for the citizens of Riverside Heights. As the area around our neighborhood continues to change, we want to help our neighbors stay informed about the issues that affect them--and work together to protect and improve the quality of life that attracted us to Riverside Heights in the first place! We also want to provide social opportunities for neighbors to come together and get to know each other. By doing so, we can make our neighborhood a safer and more attractive place to live. If you'd like to be a part of our efforts, we welcome your help and input! Just click the "Get Connected" link in the menu above to get started.

Who We Aren't

First and foremost, Riverside Heights Civic Association is not a homeowners' association. We don't have required dues, we don't have the ability to fine residents for "infractions", and we don't have deed restriction requirements about the types of Christmas lights you can put up or the height of your palm trees. We like it that way, and we hope you do too!

We are not a political organization. We don't have the ability to "fix" problems with Code Enforcement, we can't call the police for you, and we're not able to be responsible for notifying residents of every zoning change that comes up before City Council. That's the work of our city government, and they do a great job. What we do is serve as an informational source to guide you in dealing with the city, the police department, Code Enforcement, and other agencies. If you don't know how to approach a problem, chances are we can give you some direction and advice.

We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. All of our events and meetings are planned and run by volunteer leaders, and every gathering is open to all residents. Because most of our volunteers also balance demands of work and family, we may not always be able to respond to you immediately...and we appreciate your patience!

From time to time, we do gather consensus of neighbors on important issues before City Council, and develop support letters that represent the position of RHCA based on the majority opinion at the General Membership meeting in which the issue is presented and debated. If you'd like to be a part of the dialogue, all you have to do is attend a meeting. When we do present a support letter, we make it clear that the document represents the opinion of a majority of attendants at a General Membership Meeting, and that we do not claim to represent the wishes of all Riverside Heights residents. If you would like to present an item before RHCA and ask for our official support, please contact us to be added to the agenda for the next meeting.
